I have a love. It’s hospitality. I have a problem. I sorely lack experience. Romans 12:12-13 says:

rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.

The word for hospitality in the Greek is philoxenia which means “love of strangers” The word has 2 parts-philos, meaning “loving” and xenos, meaning “a stranger or guest”

Being hospitable is a requirement from overseers (1 Timothy 3:2) to elders (Titus 1:8) and a command for all believers to practice (1 Peter 4:9)

We have had our hands a little tied because of our situation here at seminary. Mostly because of time but of course because of our finances. We didn’t throw it out the window, obviously it is a command, we just haven’t practiced as much as we’d like!

Now because I lack sorely, I want to hear what you do! What do you do to prepare? What special little things do you do for your guest? How do you feed big crowds? What creative recipes do you have? What things do you do to keep from your focus being on just prep, food, cleaning, so you can focus on what really matters, the heart and people?

Now I know most have recipes or posts already dealing with hospitality so feel free just to link those posts, if you don’t feel like creating a new one! Let’s share our gifts!
